Intimate Brightening Solution Tustin

What is Intimate Brightening Treatment in Irvine

At Ageless MD, we offer intimate brightening in Tustin using a specially formulated chemical peel that is safe for use in the intimate areas for both men and women. Our treatments are customized to each individual to help lighten, brighten, and even out skin tone and color.

Why is skin darker in the intimate areas?

Having darker skin in the intimate areas is perfectly normal, but factors like friction and inflammation contribute to discoloration. Excessive and continuous rubbing in particular areas exacerbates the epidermis which causes the skin color and texture to darken and become rough. Common examples of friction include wearing tight clothing, shaving, and waxing. Discoloration can also be increased in areas where sweat occurs due to an accumulation of pigment-producing bacteria.

How does it work?

The intimate brightening peel is composed of a combination of acids that target discoloration. On top of exfoliating the skin on both the superficial and deeper layers, the peel works to inhibit tyrosinase activity which is the enzyme responsible for producing melanin–the substance gives us pigment in the hair, skin, and eyes. The treatment facilitates skin cell turnover and promotes the peeling process by expelling discolored cells to the surface, thereby softening the epidermal layer and brightening the skin.

Where can the peel be used?

The intimate brightening treatment can address discoloration in places such as the vaginal and anal area, inner thighs, under the arms, and areolas. Other areas include the elbows, knees, and toes.

How many sessions are recommended?

In general, most patients need 1-2 sessions to achieve their desired results. However, each individual is different and depending on the severity of the discoloration, multiple sessions may be needed.

How do I prepare for the treatment?

Avoid all types of hair removal treatments for at least 5 days before the intimate brightening treatment and ensure that you are not on your menstrual cycle for your appointment. We highly recommend completing laser hair removal prior to the intimate brightening treatment.

What happens during the treatment?

At Ageless MD, our intimate brightening treatment is a multistep process performed by the provider and medical assistant. The process involves cleaning the treatment areas using a gentle cleansing solution that is pre-treats without disrupting the vaginal ecology. Subsequently, the provider will apply a natural anti-inflammatory solution to help reduce redness, bumps, and irritation; the chemical peel serum to address discoloration and eliminate the post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation; and a lotion that promotes skin recovery and healing. The solutions will be applied with gauze or cotton swabs onto the desired treatment areas. During the treatment, you may feel a warm and tingling sensation which is expected.

What should I expect after the treatment?

Following treatment, the areas may feel irritated and sensitive. In about 2-3 days, there may be some dryness and sloughing of the skin; even if this does not occur, the treatment is still in effect as it is working in the deeper layers of the skin where the melanocytes are located. A post-care cream will be provided which must be used as directed for optimal results. We will schedule you for a 40-day follow up from the treatment date to reassess.

What are the post-care instructions?

Avoid sexual intercourse for 2 weeks. Use a gentle cleanser only on the areas of treatment and rinse with cold water. Avoid sun and heat exposure such as hot water, hot tubs, hot yoga, or saunas. Avoid anything that will cause friction such as tight clothing, vigorous exercise, shaving, and waxing. Allow the treatment areas to recover for at least 2 weeks.

How long do results last?

The results last as long as you avoid anything that can increase pigmentation (e.g., wearing tight clothing, shaving, sun/heat exposure).
