PRP Facial

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Facial

The renewal effects on the skin usually lasts several months. Some people may need to have the procedure repeated once or twice a year depending on what their goals are and what they are trying to achieve.

The PRP facial is actually not a facial in the traditional sense of a skin treatment because it does involves needles, but rather a type of skin treatment using the body’s own natural healing and growth factors that are derived from your own blood. The procedure involves Microneedling or Radiofrequency Microneedling (optional upgrade) followed by application of the PRP into the “microchannels” created by the microneedling in order to reduce wrinkles, fine lines, and improve the overall quality of your skin.

The key ingredient of the PRP facial is platelet rich plasma, which is derived from the patient’s own blood. PRP is obtained of course from a blood draw, just like any normal blood test. The PRP is then separated by spinning the patient’s blood through a centrifuge. PRP appears as a yellow/pinkish serum after it is separated from the darker components made mostly of red blood cells.

These properties make PRP an ideal natural serum for rejuvenating facial skin quality with increased collagen production, blood supply, and new skin and fatty tissue generation, creating that youthful appearance that comes with healthier skin.

Candidates for the PRP facial

People with less visible signs of aging may benefit from using less extensive non-surgical procedures like hyaluronic acid fillers and/or PRP alone. A personal consultation is the best way to determine if PRP facial is right for you.

Areas treated by the PRP facial:

  • Any scars including Acne scars
  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Lines at corners of the mouth
  • Crepe skin/fine lines around eyes and even the neck
  • Frown lines
  • Smile lines
  • “Smokers Lines”
  • Stretch marks
  • Rejuvenating Facial Skin from Within

The PRP Increases the formation of new blood vessels (also called “neovascularization”) and increases the blood flow to the skin, resulting in a glowing tighter skin. PRP also increases new cell formation for skin renewal as well as spurs the production of new collagen, the major component of facial skin that diminishes in facial aging. PRP also activates the multi-potent stem cells already in the skin by tricking it into thinking there is an injury, resulting in the use of a combination of growth factors and stem cells to generate new fatty tissue. The new fatty tissue repairs skin that was never injured in the first place, resulting in the generation of new, younger-skin.

This is a quick procedure that keeps working for several months

The PRP facial procedure only takes less than 1 hour to complete (excluding numbing time), and that includes the: blood draw, preparation of the PRP, platelet-rich fibrin matrix, and the microneedling or Radiofrequency microneedling procedure. Since skin renewal and rejuvenation is using the body’s own active regeneration components, facial skin renewal is continual for about several months after the procedure.

The effects of PRP Facial on Smokers

Cigarette smoke interferes with the body’s growth factors and with tissue healing and regeneration. If you do smoke, PRP facial will not produce the same results as it would in a non-smoker. Smokers may be better off with hyaluronic acid filler application such as Juvederm, Sculptra Aesthetics or some other type of treatment rather than using PRP. Likewise anyone who is generally not in the best of health (such as preexisting medical conditions like cancer autoimmune disorders heart disease or uncontrolled diabetes) will not have the best quality platelets and should consider another treatment. Thats why this is a medical treatment and a screening history and exam by either a medical doctor, PA (Physician Assistant), or NP (Nurse Practitioner) is legally required.

The PRP facial can be done in conjunction with wrinkle treatments such as Botox or Dysport. We can help you determine what complementary procedures are right for your individual case, and develop a treatment plan that you are comfortable with.

The growth factors activate your own adult stem cells in and under the skin. This stem cell activity results in:

    • Skin quality improvement
    • Improved blood flow and blood supply to the skin
    • Stimulation of new collagen production

A medical staff member takes your blood like a normal blood test. The blood is processed so the platelets (cells which stimulate collagen for healing) are separated from the red blood cells. The separated material is platelet-rich plasma (PRP).

Expect a 2-5 day socially acceptable downtime which includes minimal redness, swelling and possible bruising.
