Upneeq Tustin
Prescription Eye Drop for Low-Lying Lids in Orange County, Newport Beach
People can have low-lying upper eyelids in one or both eyes which happens when the muscles in the eyelid weaken over time. Having droopy eyelids can affect the way you look (tired, sleepy) and your vision such as when you are driving or reading. Upneeq also helps to give the eyes a refreshed look and whiten the sclera so that your eyes appear brighter.
How does it work?
Upneeq is administered to the affected eye(s) once a day as needed in which only 1 drop per eye is indicated. The medication works by stimulating the eyelid muscle to tighten and lift the eyelid up in which the lifting effect can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 hours and can last up to 8 hours.
What are the Contraindications / Precautions?
Please speak with the provider if you have overactive thyroid disorder, glaucoma, eye infection/pain, uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart disease, or Sjogren’s syndrome (dry eyes, dry mouth, arthritis). Although studies have not yet determined whether Upneeq is safe for use when pregnant or breastfeeding, we will not prescribe this medication in consideration for the safety of the fetus/infant.
Upneeq can be used with contact lenses and other eye drop medications. For individuals who wear contact lenses, please remove them before applying Upneeq; contact lenses can be put back in 15 minutes after application. If additional eye drop medications are being used, the drugs should be administered at least 15 minutes between applications.
What are the side effects?
There are little to no side effects with Upneeq in which some individuals have reported eye irritation, eye redness, dry eyes, blurry vision, and headache. Please inform the provider if you experience any side effects.
